Client Background Cometa is the largest pension fund in Italy. Formed in January 1999 shortly after the reform of the country's pension laws, its 350,000 members are employed by 12,000 companies in the mechanical industry.
Business Challenge The aging of the Italian workforce has increased the pressure on pension funds such as Cometa to provide a cost-effective service to its members. In addition, employers and members demand quicker processing of information and transactions, and better access to their records. As a new fund financed entirely by its comparatively small number of members, Cometa was unable to make the necessary investment in the facilities and systems that would deliver this level of service. Fortunately, Accenture was able to offer a BPO solution that overcame this obstacle.
How Accenture Helped Accenture Pension Services (APS) developed and manages the Fondi Pensione platform. APS is Italy's leading pension fund administrator, servicing 15 funds, 600,000 members and more than 20,000 employers within a single shared facility. APS provides all of the back-office administration, the call center for members and employers, application management, Web services and IT operation services that Cometa required.
High Performance Delivered Today APS provides Cometa with a comprehensive set of pension fund administration services including contributions management, member relationship management, benefits management, asset management, general ledger and reporting, call center and consultancy. When Cometa migrated to our platform it gained world-class administration processing and a Web interface for all stakeholders that was shared, scalable, priced on a per-member basis and required minimal up-front capital investment. The result was quicker, more accurate processing and greater efficiency. Service was enhanced through improved communication and the ability to use the Website to provide members with a consulting facility.
