Euskaltel is a global telecommunications operator in the Basque country of Spain, offering fixed and mobile telephone services, as well as Internet and television services. It is the top broadband operator in the autonomous Basque region, with a 25 percent market share in the telecommunications sector, including 45 percent share in fixed telephony, 44 percent in broadband, 27 percent in mobile telephony, and 30 percent in Digital TV. In 2005, its income for operations amounted to €315 million, with €24.2 million in profits. Euskaltel is deploying a nextgeneration fiber-optic network in the Basque country with an investment of €1.2 billion—€600 per citizen—the largest network investment per inhabitant in Spain.
