My First Post
| Posted at Dec. 03, 2007 10:33 AM CST | | | | Molly Cook | | | Hello and welcome to my first Accenture Technology Solutions blog post. I will just give a quick intro to myself and my background with Accenture Technology Solutions for now and hopefully as the blog progresses you will be able to get a good understanding of what life is like inside the wheels of Accenture. | | | I joined Accenture Technology Solutions back in July 2003 as an Industrial Placement student as part of my Computing and IT course at Surrey University. The year was definitely worthwhile in terms of understanding the workplace and building a good framework of contacts for the future. I was lucky enough to be placed on an out of town assignment down the road from my family home so enjoyed the social life of the out of town project alongside my mum’s home cooking. | | | During my year with Accenture Technology Solutions, I experienced varied roles including support and development, organized a weekly badminton session at the local gym and built up a good network within Accenture that has proved helpful throughout my working life. After working hard for 14 months I headed back to University to complete my degree and make the most of the student life, knowing full well what was ahead of me. | | | Accenture Technology Solutions had been kind enough to offer me a job on completing my degree so I didn’t have the worries of finding a job hanging over my head either and so I chose the latest start date offered to take some time out to go traveling. All a lot easier with a secure job to come back to. | | | Almost two years ago now, February 2006, I rejoined Accenture Technology Solutions and started on a project based out of the UKDC with people I had worked for during my placement. This was very surreal, it appeared to be the same project, similar technologies and faces but for a different client and in a different location. | | | Thanks to my experience during placement I was put on the Capability Development team which involved creating tools for automating building code and deployment to servers, which is actually a lot more fun than it sounds. I spent 10 months in the role, gained Siebel certification and then moved onto my current project which is based between London and Oslo. This can wait till the next time... | | | | Comment on this post |
