Welcome
| Posted at Dec. 06, 2006 10:10 PM CST | | | | Chris Gould | | | Welcome to my new blog! I was recently asked to share some of my experiences recruiting for Accenture. I have been here nearly 10 years and am constantly asked why I stay. The main reason is that every day I get to work with some of the smartest people I know. I also interact with people from all over the world with diverse interests, experiences and backgrounds. | | | I am really excited to engage in an open dialogue or should I say “diablog” with YOU. Do you wonder what its like to work here? Are there common character traits successful employees share across all organizations? I am sure there are recruiting questions out there I haven’t even thought about and I can’t wait to see what you all come up with! I will do my best to answer your questions as soon as possible. If I respond in the middle of the night please don’t think I am actually working. I have 12 week old twins and am probably feeding one (enjoy the visual). | | | Happy Job Hunting! | | | | Comment on this post |

June 16, 2008 09:25 AM CST | Hi,
According to me a recruiter is someone engaging in recruitment, which is the solicitation of individuals to fill jobs or positions within any group. Recruiters can be divided into two groups; those working internally for one organization, and those working for multiple clients in a third-party recruiters.
I am working in a US Staffing Company for the part one year and what i have learnt is that recruiter must have following tools in order to be successful:
1:Database
2:Turnaround Time
3:Relations
Thanks&Regards

January 10, 2007 02:22 AM CST | Hi Chris, This is my first interaction with you. I have been recently recruited in Accenture technology division and would be joining the organization In August. However, my academic session (MBA) would be over by April this year. This means that I would be left idle for almost five months or so.
I wanted ur guidance in this regard. Would it be possible/advisable for me to join Accenture on a short-time assignment which would help me learn organizational culture and start delivering the results? OR Should I try opportunities in some other place as working within Accenture may lead to peer conflict in roles, once I join??
Bye and hope to hear soon fro you. |

January 04, 2007 10:22 AM CST | Greetings and congratualations on your entrance into parenthood although the congrats are a bit belated. Here's my spiel. I'm a recent grad and my background is in English--work experience in marketing among other things--and I'm wondering if there is a niche I can fit in within Accenture that would allow me to use my communication skills. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for your help. |

December 27, 2006 10:43 AM CST | Hello Chris,
My name is Gloria Groves-Smith and I am an IT Consultant who specializes in the Critical Data Center arena. I was doing some job seeking when I came across your blog...and pleasantly surprised to see you live in our former neighborhood, Overland Park. I couldn't help but think stumbling upon a fellow Kansan would be a good place to begin a networking venture. And your friendly blog tells me you really enjoy matching talents up with needs.
I am a 15+ year veteran of Data Center Operations Management. I have worked with several large clients, where I assess, plan, and project manage construction of technical areas.
I would like to forward my resume to Accenture, if you will kindly suggest what person or department to submit it to. |

December 16, 2006 01:02 PM CST | Hi Chris,
Welcome to parent hood! The ride is only going to get more exciting (and fun) as years go by, so brace yourself.
I like the concept of this blog. What I would like to see:
- your best /worst experiences in recruiting for Accenture (could keep the names anonymous - I am sure you've got a lot of interesting stories to tell) . Hopefully those stories that shed some insights into how Accenture's hiring process, core values is differentiated from the others.
- provide some tips (dos and donts) to the aspirants.
Have fun!

December 14, 2006 10:43 AM CST | Hi Chris and congrats on the twins. I am wondering if it is possible for me to set up a day to go to the local Accenture office to "shadow" someone there for a day. I am a career changer who has 8 years experience in the financial services industry. I want to be a consultant with Accenture. I am nervous about the career change while at the same time excited about the change. I am in the Tampa/St. Pete area but I am moving to Chicago to start my new career.
Thank you for your time and input. |

December 10, 2006 10:33 PM CST | Hello Chris,
I am an Accenture alum and wanted to get your thoughts on the possibility of returning, but internally. I am good friends with someone that is working in marketing and works from home 85% of the time and loves it. I would love to pick your brain, if you find some time between the lack of sleep and crying.
Best Regards,
Bill |

December 09, 2006 08:21 AM CST | I'm a current undergraduate in the UK (MEng Computer Science) currently researching Accenture as a company.
A lot of the larger comapanies (Microsoft, IBM, HP, GCHQ, etc) I've recently applied to have very similar assessment centre techniques, similar questions asked, similar pay, benefits, holidays and such.
I believe that the interview process is two-way. I'm looking for a great company and you're looking for the best colleagues to work with in the future.
Can you describe why an undergraduate, such as myself, or someone changing their career path should work for Accenture, and why Accenture can provide better career prospects?
(Aside from the standard blurb that all companies have about pay and benefits). |

December 07, 2006 06:09 PM CST | I too have many years in recruiting experience from within Accenture, and now as a preferred supplier to Accenture in Asia Pacific. I think one of the reasons you have probably stayed the course may be because it takes a while for a recruiter to really appreciate why Accenture hiring managers/directors are so selective - and once you are in vogue with their preferences, you become in a way a reflection of the reason they are so picky - only the top 10% of candidates make it though, not too many corporates set their standards so high - recruiting for somwher else for the remaining 90% would sure be easier - but boring!!
Hey, congratulations on the twins...no sleep for 3 years!! |
