Navigating the Accenture Careers Section
| Posted at Jan. 29, 2007 12:41 PM CST | | | | Tara Hoss | | | It’s been a busy couple of weeks! Since my last update just before a big interview day in Miami, all of the groups I support have been to Boston, Dallas and Chicago for interview days. I’ll be in Dallas on Friday to kick off our February schedule. It is safe to say Accenture is back to "recruiting as usual" following the holiday season. | | | Today I’m sending off communications regarding approved offers and training the new contract recruiters joining my team – so exciting! Thinking about training brings to mind the topic of navigating the Accenture website for jobs. More often than one would think, I get questions on how to find a job on the Accenture website. Here are my suggestions for navigating the site: | | | Go to accenture.com then Select Careers then Select Search jobs then Select a Country…and you get a search page with this intro: “All the positions on this site are currently open. The easiest way to search for open jobs is to use the basic search options below. To conduct a more detailed search, click on Show Advanced Search for additional search options.” Following the ‘intro’ paragraphs you get these search options: | | | JOB: General Functional Area | | | LOCATION: State/Province - City | | | ORGANIZATION: Workforce | | | And then there is a box for Keyword or Job Number search | | | Now this all seems pretty straight forward right? Well….here is some information on the different search areas: | | | JOB: General Functional Area – now this is straight forward. If you are looking for a Recruiter position you select ‘Human Resources’, a Receptionist position you select ‘Office & Facilities…’, for a SAP analyst role you select ‘ERP’, etc. | | | LOCATION: State/Province – City – this area appears straight forward but may not be the best way to search for jobs. Some of the positions with Accenture are location negotiable. Another thing to note is that when a positing is set up, locations are selected by a recruiter. If the recruiter does not open a position to all location appropriately a position may not come up in your location search. For example, if my position is open for Business Intelligence Consultants across the US in several locations I should open my position to US locations and then make selections for the city locations. If I open my positions to just the locations - entering Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Francisco – by entering the locations in this order it will look like my position is just open in Chicago when this is not the case. | | | ORGANIZATION: Workforce – now this section is NOT straight forward. In order to use this function a person has to know how Accenture is organized internally. Unless you have a friend that works at Accenture (and understands every group) you may not be able to use this search portion effectively. I would suggest reading info on accenture.com to find out more about these areas before using this feature (Accenture Technology Solutions/Consulting/Internal Operations – Enterprise/Outsourcing for Accenture Clients - Services). | | | Keyword or Job Number search – Okay, now this is the best section to use. I think this search area is best since you can type any combination of words. For example, when I type the skill ‘Cognos’ 33 jobs come up in a list. | | | One very important change was made to the Accenture site a few months back. All positions are now listed in alphabetical order by title when a search is conducted. Keep in mind that the best match position is not necessarily at the top of the list! | | | I hope you find this information help! Until next time… Tara | | | | Comment on this post |

When applying for posts on the Accenture site, if I am willing to relocate to a nearby city should I apply to both posts?
Thanks,
Bernitha |

Thanks for the detail about Accenture careers. Can you tell me the best way a person who is not a recent graduate to have an opportunity in a consulting position? |

April 01, 2007 12:00 PM CST | Hi Tara!
I would first like to say never have I seen a Recruiters Blog....what a wonderful way to introduce talent to the organization and to add a "personal touch" to the recruitment process. Kudos to your team for setting yourself a part from the rest! I just submitted a resume to Accenture for possible employment (as a Recruiter, of course :o)) and found the site to be extremely easy to navigate through. As a job searcher, there's nothing more frustrating then trying to figure out what information the site is looking for. Again, great site! I would love to work for an organization that is on the cutting edge of talent searching techniques such as this! |

February 16, 2007 08:58 AM CST | Thanks for sharing this information. I have spent many hours on your website learning about Accenture and the different workforce groups operating within your organization. I have submitted a resume on several occasions but have not yet been successful in finding a contact person. I am confident that my seventeen years of professional experience can be put to work to benefit Accenture. Do you have any suggestions for me? |
