Have You Done Your Research When Applying to a Role within an Organization?
| Posted at Feb. 05, 2007 08:38 AM CST | | | | Chris Gould | | | To someone outside of the company, Accenture can be a bit complicated to understand. Prior to applying for a role with Accenture, A great place to start is our careers page, Accenture Careers by Workforce. Here you can find opportunities by workforce, skill, high level information regarding the recruitment process, and where you fit in. | | | Accenture offers an interactive tool on the skills match page that can assist you in determination of a potential “best fit” within our organization based on the answers you provide. Accenture Technology Solutions - The workforce I recruit for offers a number of resources that can help you understand our organization, and where you fit in. Subscribe to our monthly newsletters. For instance, if you are interested in a career with Accenture Technology Solutions, subscribe to the ATS Newsletter, and check out some our case studies. Visit our digital forum, an online magazine for technology enthusiasts. Are you interested in any recruiting events going on in your area? Check out our Career Events page. | | | A question often asked of new recruits is what is your understanding of our business? Before you speak with the recruiter, it is anticipated that you have done your research. Researching an organization is a commonly suggested practice when preparing for an interview. Prior to the interview it is well worth the effort to dedicate some time learning about the organization that you are interviewing with. | | | Networking is a good place to start, if you do not know anyone personally within the organization, take advantage of the wealth of information available in journals, periodicals, financial data, and the corporate website. Preparing for the interview will help you align your career objectives with the company goals and greatly assist you in formulating good questions for your interviewer. Posing good questions in an interview tells the interviewer you have “done your research.” | | | | Comment on this post |

February 16, 2007 06:52 PM CST | Mr. Gould,
I appreciate your thoughts on preparing yourself by gathering the proper information before applying to an organization. I've had a few questions on Training recently I haven't found answers to on the website.
Is training generally done through an internal on-line system, or are in-person classes available depending on the subject? Does training at Accenture allow personnel to follow their own training plan and to learn topics that may be useful to know in their future assignments in general, or is training more strictly assigned on an "as you need it to do your immediate assignment" basis? Also, does Accenture assist in some way (perhaps through time-off / flex-time or through assistance with course or exam fees...) with related external training or professional certifications, or are these types of training done on your own?
Thank you for your help!
