My name is Chanda Yarborough and I’m a manager in Communications & High Tech. I’m based out of the Reston office, in suburban Washington, DC, and Reston is also my hometown. I joined Accenture in 2000 after graduating from Georgetown University with a degree in Foreign Service. Although Foreign Service and technology consulting sound like polar opposites, my focus was on Science, Technology and International Affairs, and it turns out that Accenture has been a great match for me.
I’ve spent my entire career working for telecommunications companies on projects ranging from testing of order management systems to program management for billing conversions. In April, I returned from a six-month stint in Delhi, India working on an Accenture Development Partnerships project. ADP is a nonprofit organization within Accenture that provides consulting services to donors, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other nonprofit entities working in developing countries. It also allows participants to apply their consulting skills to work in the development sector, while working abroad. In Delhi, I worked with the GSM Association Development Fund as project manager for one of its initiatives to extend wireless technologies to rural India by creating entrepreneurship opportunities. My day-to-day work was nearly identical to the work I did back in the U.S., but I also got to enjoy the experience of living and working abroad, while also helping to improve social and economic standards in India. I’m currently part of Management Consulting & Integrated Markets (MCIM) – CRM growth platform and I’m aligned to the Customer Billing practice. These days, I’m working to start an Agent Desktop Tool project with a cable company. And prior to the excitement of ADP and India, I spent two years working on a series of large-scale billing conversions for a wireless company. When I’m not working, I put my frequent flyer miles to use and travel as much as possible. My recent travels have taken me to Guatemala, Argentina, Thailand, and of course India. I also enjoy catching up with family and friends, planning my next vacation, and cheering for the Washington Redskins and Georgetown Hoyas. |
