Well, a lot changes in the space of a week. Spent the first part of this week putting together some Points of View and some other documentation that describes the work we do within Business Continuity. We are having a big push on increasing the work that we have, and the number of staff that are in the area, and this work was all directed towards helping develop the practice.

Intermingled with that, I had to do some work on developing a couple of proposals that we are working on; a client has asked for some assistance in understanding some of their processes, and we are assembling the proposals and information so that we can then discuss better the type of support that we are able to give. It should be a really nice piece of work….just a shame, given recent changes, that I will probably have to find someone else to do it!!!

I spent early Monday evening in a workshop with other experienced hires, all of us discussing the experienced Hhre experience; this proved to be an ideal opportunity for more networking and, again, reinforced the huge range of skills, talents and resources within the company.

I also spent a day or so chasing up admin, getting prepared for a mid-year review, which involved ensuring that all the reviews had been done for my previous project work, and also speaking to previous clients to get their approvals of credentials that I had drafted.

Then, on Wednesday, all change! I had a call and an email, expressing interest in my joining a new piece of work. My CV is on the portal, and apparently has some of the skills that are felt necessary, and hence the project team contacted me; a short interview followed, and I started today! Stacks of reading to do!!!! From what I can gather, I will be leading on ensuring that the business requirements have been fully covered by the proposed technical solution for a fairly complex bid. It should be suitably challenging, as I have not done precisely this sort of work, but my background and business continuity skills should be ideal! Looks like a couple of busy months ahead. Hopefully, I will also be able to continue to fit in the other business practice development requirements!

I’ll tell you more about how the project is going next time. For now, I have to get home, and get my stuff together for a short trip up to Yorkshire to see another potential client, and then I can look forward to a weekend of Six Nations and the Paddy’s Day game at London Irish. Desperately hoping that I will not have to suffer too much gloating from an Irish boyfriend…..Come On England!!!!
