Accenture is committed to understanding and reducing its environmental impact in terms of carbon, water and waste. In addition to running our business in an environmentally responsible way, we provide sustainable solutions to our clients, choose suppliers based on their environmental performance and foster employees' efforts to reduce their individual impacts.
We recognize that this is a journey and continue to measure our progress and partner with key stakeholders to make an even greater impact. For example, we have developed detailed measurement tools to enhance our reporting and set carbon reduction targets, leading to a more comprehensive submission to the Carbon Disclosure Project in 2009 as compared to prior reports. In addition, we achieved global ISO 14001 certification for our environmental management system in fiscal 2009. We have also demonstrated our commitment by signing the United Nations Global Compact and working with not-for-profits, such as the World Business Council on Sustainable Development and the World Economic Forum, to research and promote sustainable practices.
