Why the VBP Scheme?
The VBP Scheme was pioneered with VSO by Accenture and Shell in 1999 to meet an increase in demand for management professionals to help local communities in the developing world. Since the scheme started, nearly 100 employees from Accenture offices in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and many more locations have taken up placements overseas. The benefits of the scheme include: - Developing communities and development organizations gain access to crucial business skills that act as an engine for sustainable growth, one of the most effective solutions to global poverty.
- VBP volunteers enjoy a rewarding one to two months career break that allows them develop a wide range of skills whilst making a real difference where the need is greatest.
- For Partner Companies, VBP helps develop and retain a highly innovative and adaptable workforce with a strong understanding of other cultures.
What's our contribution? Accenture people use their business skills to make tangible contributions in challenging environments. In doing so, volunteers acquire new skills and find their experience both personally and professionally rewarding. Accenture VBP volunteers receive financial support from Accenture to make this opportunity viable and help cover fixed costs such as mortgage repayments. Accenture offices in 16 countries already participate in the Voluntary Service Overseas Business Partnership scheme: Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Philippines, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, United Kingdom and the United States.
