In May 2006, the Accenture Global Convergence Forum convened in Beijing to focus on achieving high performance through Expanding Markets: Innovation & Globalization. Recent trends are ushering in a new era of the global economy—with new players appearing and major emerging economies shaping the global playing field. As the rules change, many companies fail to realize the full benefits on their competitiveness as well as the resulting resource and organizational requirements. At the Accenture Global Convergence Forum, industry leaders revealed how their organizations have formulated globalization strategies and addressed the resulting challenges. We examined how global companies can prepare to succeed in the burgeoning markets of the BRIC countries: Brazil, Russia, India and China. We also took an in-depth look at the importance of China and Chinese companies in the global arenas of today and tomorrow.
