Accenture is now in its fourth year as a Platinum Sponsor of Northern Ballet Theatre. Northern Ballet Theatre, founded in 1969, is an ambitious touring company based in Leeds, which has gained an enviable reputation for high quality narrative dance.
The Company tours extensively throughout the United Kingdom and is regularly invited to tour overseas. Northern Ballet Theatre is renowned for captivating new audiences with a distinctive blend of classical dance and theatre. The Company, along with the Northern Ballet Orchestra, tours for up to 30 weeks of the year, performing in 20 towns and cities throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. They aim to give a dance experience which is unique to the United Kingdom. Using the best of classical ballet traditions, they create dance with a story–understandable to any audience–providing first class entertainment and at the same time challenging convention. Recent productions have included A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, A Tale of Two Cities and The Nutcracker with the addition of Swan Lake and Wuthering Heights in 2009. They have been described in the press as "vibrant, accessible and innovative", qualities that are a good fit for Accenture and its High Performance strategy. In 2008, dedicated events took place in Manchester, Belfast, Edinburgh, Milton Keynes and London including a week-long season sponsorship of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Palace Theatre in Manchester. In 2009 client entertaining events are planned for Belfast, Edinburgh, Manchester and Belfast and in May 2009 Accenture will be the season sponsor of Romeo & Juliet at the Opera House in Manchester. Our partnership also extends to the local community and in May 2009 we will be inviting approximately 40 teenagers from Fairbridge, a local Manchester based charity, to a matinee performance of Romeo and Juliet followed by afternoon tea and a chance to meet the dancers at the Opera House in Manchester. Phil Swallow, Accenture sponsoring partner said: "There is an ever-growing sense of confidence and creativity about the north, which we think Northern Ballet Theatre reflects, and we are tapping into as a business. As a result, there is a powerful relationship developing between our two organisations and we look forward to supporting Northern Ballet Theatre in any way we can".
