Kids Company As part of a three-year programme based on £144,000 per annum contribution from the Accenture United Kingdom Foundation, the children of Daubeney Primary School in Hackney are benefiting from a new "Family Care Team," established by the school and Kids Company, which offers counselling, therapy, advice, information and support to vulnerable children and their families. Supporting the work of the school and Kids Company, a charity offering practical, emotional and educational support to disadvantaged inner-city children and young people, a team of four Accenture people is providing professional expertise to evaluate and develop the Family Care Team concept. As part of a broader partnership with the school, Accenture volunteers provide additional support in key areas; for example, assisting the teaching staff with information communication and technology skills and delivering motivational talks for the children. "We have an outstanding relationship with Daubeney staff and the Kids Company charity. We are all learning from each others' expertise, and we share a passion for the outcomes we are striving to achieve," says Andrew Banfield a Senior Executive from Accenture. Enthusiasm for the Family Care Team approach is igniting interest from other schools around the Hackney area as well as attracting sponsorship interest from other organisations. "One of our goals was to create a blueprint for how to deliver effective proactive, preventative care to children," says Andrew. "This is being realised through our collaboration with Kids Company and Daubeney School, creating an opportunity to extend the benefits to other schools in Hackney." The Prince's Trust Volunteer Programme The Prince's Trust Volunteer Programme is a part of The Prince's Trust Foundation. It runs a personal development programme that helps disadvantaged 16-to-25 year-olds develop their confidence, motivation and skills to improve their employability. Accenture employees help the Volunteers Programme by spending up to three days of their charitable allowance with a volunteer team. They provide practical advice, coaching and a "real life" perspective in areas such as interview and presentation skills, application forms and CVs. We send out two to three employees to one volunteer team at a time. Often, Accenture staff maintains contact with the volunteer team, providing support and advice. Volunteering for the Prince's Trust means that you contribute to improving a young person's chances of employment.
