 David Thomlinson is the senior managing director of Accenture’s Global Strategy and Operations, the managing director of Accenture’s UK and Ireland operations and a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Prior to this role, he was the group chief executive of Accenture’s global Resources Operating Group, which serves clients in the energy, utilities, chemicals, forest products and metals and mining industries. Accenture in the UK and Ireland regularly receives recognition for being a market leader in corporate integrity. Recent accolades include the Business in the Community Corporate Responsibility Index gold standard; the Management Consultancies Association Corporate Responsibility Award and The Times' “Top 50 companies where women want to work.” David is a member of the President’s Committee of the CBI; an active industry board member of eSkills UK and a member of the board of The Council for Industry and Higher Education. He also sits on the Government’s Council on Social Action which is chaired by the prime minister; is on the advisory board of Teach First; attended the BITC environment call to action on May Day and is an advisor to Intellect on the Environment. Prior to joining Accenture in 1986, David spent nine years as a structural design engineer with Arup. He was involved in the design of a number of major building projects, including the headquarters of the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank in Hong Kong. He received a Bachelor of Engineering degree (B.Eng., First Class honors) in civil and structural engineering from Sheffield University in 1977. He is a Chartered Engineer and a member of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers. |
