Business Challenge
Operating in a competitive and technologically dynamic environment, MultiChoice Africa was faced with the challenge of making informed strategic decisions in extremely short turn-around times. The company, which simultaneously grew rapidly in different countries, operates on a vast array of separate systems, applications and products from a variety of vendors To consolidate its growth and meet the challenges of managing an international operation there was a critical need for a flexible, integrated company-wide information system. How Accenture Helped
Accenture was approached in June 2001 to: - Evaluate the existing application systems infrastructure and capabilities.
- Assist in developing an IS vision for the group.
- Map out an appropriate implementation plan.
- Help select appropriate products.
- Project-manage the systems integration implementation.
MultiChoice Africa chose SeeBeyond as its Enterprise Application Integration solution to connect its back office systems, making disparate applications available across the organisation's distributed architecture. Accenture's initial phase focused on the integration of billing, data warehouse and financial systems, which would be expanded to include front-office functionality into the enterprise solution. The focus during 2002 was on enterprise integration linking departments and business units. This allowed processing and reporting of application information to be driven via business processes, giving a single view of the business, as well as centralised control, monitoring and elements of analysis. The final stage integrated the internal enterprise with suppliers, fulfillment houses and partners (B2B) to allow an end-to-end picture of the organisation.
