The Education Trust was established in 2001 as one of Accenture's corporate citizenship activities in South Africa. The Trust provides a platform to assist students from 2nd to 4th year who have strong academic ability and intend pursuing a career in computer science, informatics/information systems and in the following branches of engineering: computer/electrical (light current)/electronics/electro-mechanical/industrial. Scholarships cover the full costs of tuition, accommodation, books and a laptop computer. In 2007, the Trust supported 18 students, who, through the Adopt-a-Student Programme, were each provided two mentors. Both students and mentors benefit enormously from this initiative. The annual expenditure of the Trust exceeds R1m. View a copy of the Accenture (SA) Education Trust Annual Report for the year ended 31 August 2007.
