Together with its affiliates, Accenture has more than 1,678 employees in South Africa. Altogether, we have more than 178,000 employees in 49 countries. Where does Accenture have offices/operations in South Africa?
We have offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria. Does Accenture in South Africa comply with the government's Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Policy, and the ICT Charter in particular?
Accenture is committed to Black Economic Empowerment. Our actions and goals are in terms of the Strategy of The Department of Trade and Industry ("DTI") for Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment ("the Strategy") which defines the objectives of BEE. Some salient facts: - Accenture is 30 percent black-owned and 60 percent of Accenture South Africa's board members are black (9 of 16). In addition, 55 percent of its employees are black.
- Seventy-six percent of Accenture recruits in South Africa in 2004 were black, coloured and Asian.
- In the past five years, Accenture has provided instruction to more than 600 black people in basic computer skills. Many students have used the skills and self-confidence developed in the course to obtain full-time jobs for the first time.
- In 2004/5, Accenture provided support for 23 academically worthy and financially needy black students to attend tertiary (mostly university-level) education in information systems, computer science and electrical and electronic engineering—all disciplines identified by the South African government as areas of acute shortage.
- Accenture in South Africa has provided infrastructure to enable personal social investment contributions by Accenture employees of approximately R4 million in the last four years to a number of local beneficiaries.
- Accenture has created Accenture Technology Solutions, an organisation focused on training and skills development for the previously disadvantaged. This has grown into a significant project that has provided skills and opportunities to more than 60 people. These 60 have now "graduated" from the training and mentorship's provided by Accenture in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry.
