The 22nd Chief Information Officer (CIO) Workshop, jointly organized by Accenture and the Information Technology Management Association (ITMA), is an annual gathering of 50-60 of the most senior CIOs from large private and public organizations in the region. Considered the de facto CIO forum, many participants return year after year to benefit from the rich content and valuable networking opportunities.

The theme for this year’s workshop is “Business (not) as usual: The CIO in uncertain times.” Set against the current economic backdrop, delegates will have the opportunity to hear and debate the issues, challenges and opportunities facing CIOs. As speakers from Singapore and Taiwan share emerging trends and present case studies, participants will be challenged to see how they can help their organizations remain competitive and relevant in these challenging times.

Through a mix of structured networking, plenary presentations and interactive breakout sessions, delegates will have ample time to interact with their peers. In addition to the rich content, the opportunity to network with fellow CIOs is a major draw for participants. The 22nd CIO workshop will be an excellent platform for knowledge sharing.

The Workshop Experience
The Workshop begins in the afternoon at ONE°15 Marina Club in Sentosa, Singapore. The following day, participants will meet at Changi International Airport for their flight to Taipei.

Following in the footsteps of past workshops, a part of the 22nd CIO Workshop is held outside Singapore. • Cloud Computing has been featured as the key disruptive technological trend by the Economist in its Special Report on “Corporate IT” making businesses “more adaptable, interconnected and specialized – and often smaller.”

Ground transfers – Arrival/Departure
Complimentary group arrival pick up service has been arranged from Taoyuan International Airport to Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel on May 20, 2009.

Please look out for personnel carrying “22nd CIO Workshop” signage when you exit immigration in the airport lobby and identify yourself.

Conversely, complimentary group departure pick up service has been arranged from Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel to Taoyuan International Airport on May 23, 2009.

If you are arriving and/ departing at a different time from the main group, you will need to arrange your own airport transfer, on your own account.

Transportation to hotel
Guests may arrive the hotel from airport via taxi, airport shuttle bus and hotel limousine. The travel time varies depending on the mode of transport. The transportation details are as follows:

Taxi
The travel time is approximately 50 minutes. However, if it is during the traffic hour, the travel time may take up to 90 minutes. The taxi fare is about NT$1,250 (about US$38).

Air Bus
Busses depart every 20 minutes. The Air Bus travel time is approximately 1 hour 10 minutes, and fare is NT$145 (about US$4.5). Right outside of the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, by the Tun Hwa South Road, an airport bus stop is just at the corner.

Hotel Limousine
Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel can arrange airport pick-up service and its average limousine travel time is approximately 45 minutes. To make pickup arrangements, contact us at least half a day in advance, or provide your travel details when completing your reservation online.

Expenses and Billing
Your accommodation, excursion, travel and meals, which have been organized as part of this event from May 20 – 23, 2009, are included in the workshop fee.

Any additional expenses, i.e. personal expenses, charges to your room (any incidentals, room service, mini-bar, laundry, etc.) will have to be settled by you upon check out.

Meals
All organized meals as indicated in the Agenda are taken care of as part of the workshop fee. Utmost care has been taken to meet any special dietary requirements made known to us.

Voltage
Taipei uses 120 Volts.

Local currency
The New Taiwan Dollar (NT$) is the national currency. One US dollar is equivalent to about 35 NT$. One Singapore dollar is is equivalent to about 22 NT$. Money can be exchanged at foreign exchange banks and other authorized money dealers.

Temperature
Taiwan has a subtropical climate with warm to hot, humid summers from May to September (24C to 32C, 75F to 90F), and a cooler season from December to February (12C to 20C, 54F to 68F). Snow can be expected in winter in higher elevations.
