Accenture and Corporate Citizenship Accenture is committed to being a good corporate citizen. We seek to understand the impact of our actions on all our clients, employees and the broader community, with whom we are building mutually beneficial relationships. We take a holistic approach to aspects, such as diversity and environmental conduct, as well as community-involvement activities and aspire to an integrated approach that positions corporate citizenship at the heart of our business operations. Accenture is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). Sponsored by the United Nations, the UNGC is the leading global standard for responsible corporate practices. While voluntary in nature, the UNGC is rapidly becoming the standard benchmark for global business conduct and is therefore gaining importance in the marketplace. Guiding Principles at Accenture for Corporate Citizenship At Accenture in India, we adopt some guiding principles when we choose a corporate citizenship project to support. Guided by these principles, we intend to: - Make a measurable impact on society.
- Maximise employee involvement.
- Align activities with business strategy and values.
At Accenture, we apply the same principles of high performance to our corporate citizenship efforts that we apply in our work with our clients. We work with nonprofit and community organisations to help them adapt to change, become efficient and effective, work through times of crises and evolve to achieve their goals and serve our communities. Corporate Citizenship Initiatives at Accenture Our Corporate Citizenship agenda is delivered through three means: - Giving Money
- Global Grant Giving
- Local Grant Giving
- Employee Giving
- Giving Time
- Giving Skills
- Accenture Development Partnerships
- Pro Bono Assignments
Giving Money Global Grant Giving - The aim of this initiative is to create and sustain income generation with an emphasis on skill building. Mostly, grants are targeted toward improving the livelihoods of people in developing countries.
Local Grant Giving - Our corporate giving theme of “Capability Building for the Future” aims to improve the capabilities and income-generating prospects of India’s disadvantaged communities. In keeping with this theme, we have partnered with organisations, such as the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India as well as Dr. Reddy’s Foundation’s Livelihood Advancement Business School (LABS), etc.
Employee Giving Program - Through the ongoing Employee Giving program (EGP), Accenture in India endeavours to reach out to all its employees and ensure that those interested in serving the underprivileged of the society can do so easily and effectively, under the aegis of the organisation they work for. This programme helps perpetuate a "giving" culture within the organisation.
- The programme was initiated with United Way, the programme partner that also works with Accenture in the United Kingdom and the United States of America on similar programmes and is the link between Accenture and its chosen charities on a continuing basis.
- We have partnered with seven nonprofit organisations (NGOs) to bring a positive difference to the lives of about 12,000 children. These NGOs focus on improving the lives and education standards of marginalised children across Accenture locations.
Giving Time National Volunteering - “Accent on Volunteering” is our national volunteering programme, held monthly across all locations and workforces. Different themes, such as World Population Day, World Environment Day, etc. add colour to the programme, where employees get a chance to spend time with and help various NGOs working on different issues.
Employee Communities - We have several employee communities across our businesses who come together to volunteer their time for varied activities—from re-building schools damaged by floods or other natural calamities to spending time with terminally ill children.
Giving Skills Accenture Development Partnerships (ADP) - ADP is a nonprofit group within Accenture that was instituted to channel the business and technology skills of Accenture to organisations in the international development sector.
- ADP staffs small teams of Accenture employees on projects with nonprofit clients, primarily in developing countries. High-quality consulting services are made available at significantly reduced costs to the development sector.
- ADP provides Accenture employees the chance to use their skills and talent for the benefit of those who are disadvantaged. It also presents them with an opportunity to work with different cultures across global teams.
Pro Bono Assignments - Our pro bono assignments ensure that we extend our high-performance, technology, consulting and core business skills to the development sector. We work with local nonprofit organizations to make our expertise and skills available to them at no charge.
