- Managing Risks
- Inclusive Growth
- Future Competitiveness
With the long-term consequences of the global economic crisis unclear, the forum considered its impact on India and the priorities for business and government. Wide-ranging debates from "vicious cycles" created by banks and financial institutions with their inward focus on assets owned by them and reduced loan disbursement, suggestions of India slowing down to "go back to basics"; and focus on soft infrastructure on which growth of a country is anchored were keenly discussed. Increased liberalization of the economy, lowering of interest rates, developing new cost and operational models translated into a call for the Indian market to be efficient, transparent and well regulated. Participants came together from all walks of life—politics, business, academia, nonprofit organisations and civil society—to discuss these issues. The Accenture Team This year, Accenture delegates to the annual meeting were Steve Rohleder, COO; Diego Visconti, international chairman; Harsh Manglik, chairman-India Geography and country managing director; Sanjay Jain, managing director, Management Consulting and Integrated Markets; Anish Gupta, managing partner, Products group; and Sanjay Tugnait, managing partner, Financial Services. A private session organized by the WEF covered “Employee Health as a Strategic Priority in India: A Joint Meeting of the World Health Organization and the World Economic Forum.” The objective of which was to share the latest thinking and identify new ways to create sustainable workplace health promotion to prevent non-communicable diseases and improve productivity. Accenture was represented at this session by Rekha Menon, executive vice president, India Geographic services and human capital and diversity, while Ajay Khanna, partner and lead for Public & Corporate Affairs participated as a distinguished alumnus of WEF. Accenture demonstrated its ability to inject fresh insights, most notably amongst them: creating the briefing document for the first time in collaboration with WEF. This document, distributed to all the delegates of the WEF, set the pace for most discussions at the forum, and played a central role in the issues being discussed, as was evident at the 2008 annual meeting.
