Canada Post Corporation is a Crown Corporation that annually delivers 9 billion pieces of mail to 30 million Canadians and more than 900,000 businesses and public institutions.
In 1999/2000 Canada Post reported a consolidated net income of $75 million on revenues of $5.6 billion.
In 1990, Accenture was asked by Canada Post to take over the implementation of a new operation system. The success of this project led to Accenture getting a contract to support and maintain this system as well as additional BPM support contracts.
Originally as part of a three-year contract Accenture was engaged in a series of individual support contracts that involved service enhancements, development and program management. However, as part of Canada Post's drive to become even more efficient Accenture was engaged in the business critical areas of application management, development and support, and support of new systems such as PeopleSoft HR and SAP Retail.
This engagement has been made up of numerous individual contracts ranging from 10 days to three years in duration. These are initiated under an overriding systems integrator agreement with Canada Post.
