In February 2009 Accenture’s Sydney offices moved to one of Australia’s most environmentally efficient buildings. The relocation demonstrates Accenture’s commitment to sustainability and reducing its environmental impact. The new offices, on the fringe of Sydney’s CBD in Pyrmont, have been designed by architects HBO+EMBT to create an environment that encourages collaboration and team work, reflecting how Accenture operates as an organisation.
The building has set a benchmark in office development by employing world’s best practice in its design and construction. It is the first commercial development in NSW to achieve a 6 green star rating, the highest possible, signifying "world leadership" from the Green Building Council of Australia. Every level enjoys natural light and exceptional views of Sydney Harbour and the western CBD skyline. Neighbours include American Express, Fairfax and the Seven Network.
A shiny new green building Key environmental features of the building, which has been constructed from recycled materials, sustainable timber and with minimal use of PVC, include: - Twenty-five percent green power from a gas-fired generator that uses waste heat to run an absorption chiller to cool the building.
- Leading water management systems, including an onsite black water recycling system that treats sewage and uses the recycled water for flushing toilets, with excess water used for irrigation of the adjacent parks and gardens.
- Significantly reduced water consumption through rejection of waste heat in lieu of cooling towers, which eliminates the risk of Legionnaire’s disease.
- Roof-mounted solar panels to heat the building’s water.
- Maximum natural light and air quality by using chilled beam technology, operable high technology facades and sun-shading devices that reduce heat load.
