Hartley Lifecare is a unique and specialised disability service focused on making a difference for people with disabilities through providing year-round specialised residential and respite options for children and adults living with a physical and complex disability, in Canberra and the surrounding region.
Hartley Lifecare’s Assistive Technology program helps those living with a disability to gain greater independence, by teaching them to use technology to communicate with others and to establish control within their environment. The program, funded by the Accenture Australia Foundation, also enables people with a disability to enter or return to work by providing technology that allows them to perform a range of skills required within the workforce. The program has been running since 2005 and has made a profound difference to the lives of many people. The two major annual fundraising activities Accenture supports and is actively involved with are the Hartley Ability Cycle Challenge and the Accenture Hartley Gala Event. Accenture-Hartley Lifecare Gala Event For three years since 2005, the Accenture-Hartley Lifecare Gala Event has been staged by Hartley Lifecare, with the Accenture Australia Foundation providing the funding and Accenture Australia providing the manpower. In 2005 and 2006 the event took the format of a charity dinner held at the Hyatt Canberra. The format of the event was changed in 2008 to a concert held in Canberra, which featured renowned jazz musician James Morrison accompanied by Emma Pask and the Idea of North. To date, the Accenture-Hartley Lifecare Gala Event has raised over $175,000 for Hartley Lifecare.
