Employee engagement in new Australian projects The Accenture Australia Foundation has recently launched a number of diverse projects across Australia. As these projects develop, the foundation is working with Accenture to identify ways in which our employees can engage and contribute to these projects. The Accenture Australia Foundation is having a positive impact in the following areas: - Working with The Smith Family to provide scholarships and resources to help disadvantaged children continue their secondary and tertiary education.
As one of the Foundation’s aims is bridging the digital divide between advantaged and disadvantaged communities, scholarship support for university and TAFE students is particularly directed to youth studying technology and business courses.
- Hosting the tertiary-education presentation for The Smith Family Learning for Life education-support program, for metropolitan Sydney students, in its North Sydney offices for the past several years. Attended by students, their families and mentors, the event acknowledges their achievement in acceptance into tertiary study or graduation having successfully completed their studies. Often these children are the first in their families to achieve this milestone.
- Funding and resourcing a breakfast club at a Northern Territory primary school in conjunction with The Smith Family. The club encourages school attendance and helps the children engage with their school.
- Providing computers and furniture for a school homework club that helps children complete assignments and maximise the value of their education.
- Working with refugees from the Horn of Africa in Melbourne to help them integrate in their new communities, and assist their children in attending schools in conjunction with Mission Australia.
- Supporting a concert program and musical workshops with Musica Viva in NSW that showcase the diverse musical heritage in modern Australian society.
- Developing assistive technology to help disabled people with greater independence and enhance their work opportunities with Hartley Lifecare.
