Accenture Australia recognised an innovative approach was required to address ongoing local skill shortages, one that would ensure the organisation would continue to be well positioned to meet client requirements in building high-performing businesses. We recognised that Wollongong, located on the picturesque south coast of NSW, offered the ideal solution by providing access to a highly skilled workforce. For several years, the University of Wollongong has taken a leadership position in terms of developing talented information technology (IT) professionals. Thus it seemed natural for Accenture to access this pool of IT talent and establish a new facility that would provide IT development and ongoing client support in Wollongong.
The facility operates on the campus of the University of Wollongong and demonstrates Accenture’s onshore delivery capability: an alternative approach to offshore delivery.
It is envisaged the scope of services through the facility will include:
Accenture currently provides the Australian Tax Office (ATO) with technical support and business consulting expertise as part of a major multi-year transformation program. We believe this is a great example of skills development and support of regional centres—something the Federal Government should continue to encourage and endorse.
